Sorry for missing last week, this is what I had planned to post, but never got around to finishing it.
We all know that rest days are important for overall health, they are built in to pretty much every workout program you can find, and if a workout program doesn’t have one it is probably not good for you.
Your body needs time to recover and reset, but often rest days are overlooked for fear of falling off track or losing momentum. In reality taking those days off will keep you on track and help your body.
And sometimes it is not just about taking a couple days off a week. If you are working out for months and months your body will need more than a couple of days a week to recover. You will likely need a week off to help allow for full recovery.
That’s not to say you have to sit on the couch all day while you are resting and recovering. The idea of a rest day is to take a break from your regular routine and do something less intense. That can mean yoga, stretching or just going for a walk.
I too struggle with rest days because there are so many things I want to do that I find i
t hard to schedule in my rest days. I really have to force myself to take a break and allow my muscles too recover.
